5 'creepy' places that challenge Vietnamese backpackers
Hoa Lo Prison, the abandoned chapel in Da Lat or the abandoned water park in Hue are known as "creepy" places, challenging the courage of backpackers.
Hoa Lo - a terrifying prison with a medieval guillotine
Hoa Lo Prison is located on Hoa Lo Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi (originally located on Phu Khanh village land, Vinh Xuong commune, Tho Xuong district) and was built by the French colonialists in 1896, just 4 years after the "hell on earth" began construction in Con Dao.
Hoa Lo has a total area of over 12,000 m2, and is one of the largest and most fortified prisons in Indochina at that time.

Wooden statues recreate the terrible prison scenes at Hoa Lo prison |
According to CNN, Hoa Lo Prison is at the top of the list of the most horrifying places in Southeast Asia. The prison is cramped, stuffy, and full of scenes of prisoners being tortured and executed. Currently, Hoa Lo Prison still has wooden statues, recreating the terrible prison scene and the painful years in the memories of many people.
Ruins of the pristine stone church in Ba Vi
Ba Vi National Park is not only famous for its vast green roads but also stimulates the curiosity of explorers, by the mossy, nostalgic relics in the middle of the old forest. Among them, the most prominent is the ancient stone church built during the French colonial period.

The church is located at an altitude of 800 meters in the middle of an ancient forest. Due to being abandoned for many years, the roof of the church no longer exists, the church is bare and gloomy in the middle of the dense forest. On the wall, the cross is covered with a nostalgic color, reflecting the silvery afternoon sunlight through the window.
Here, the mist is always lurking, occasionally descending to cover the cathedral. The green of moss, the grey of mold, the silver of fog create a magical space. Although it has been ruined by time and circumstances, covered with moss, the wildness and what remains here still have the flavor of ancient French architecture, further stimulating the curiosity of those who love to travel and explore.
Mystery of abandoned chapel in Dalat
The mysterious abandoned monastery located on Hung Vuong Street, Da Lat City is a destination for many people, not because of the colorful flower gardens, nor because of the winding road through the pine forest leading to the villas on the slopes... but because of the pristine architecture that has been destroyed, covered with moss and mold, and the ghostly stories woven over time.

The ancient, mossy architecture of the abandoned chapel attracts adventurous tourists. |
The chapel has a combination of Western and Eastern architecture. The Oriental tiled roof system extends from the bell tower through the dome to the main and secondary spaces. The windows and main doors have a strong Gothic architectural style typical of the West with domes.
Locals say that this place used to be a convent, then Lam Vien Hotel, then Thang Long Specialized School, and later Tran Phu High School. Since the chapel closed, this place has become dark.
Up to now, this chapel is under the management of the University of Architecture, but the school has not repaired and put it into use, allowing the dust of time to continue to cover the broken glass windows over time, the dark hallways full of weeds...
The monstrous villa challenges the courage of visitors
This project was originally named Hang Nga Villa, later changed to "Crazy House" or "Monster House" built in 1990 on a campus of nearly 1,900 m2, at 3 Huynh Thuc Khanh Street (Da Lat City, Lam Dong).

The project consists of many consecutive buildings built with quite unique and strange shapes. |
The crazy house is famous for its unique and bizarre architecture, with the appearance of tree roots, caves in the middle of the jungle, or body parts of wild animals. Right from the entrance, visitors will be "struck" by a huge spider web, of course not made of real spider silk, but of steel wire but very impressive. Next, go up the tiny, spiral stairs... to the Tree Hole Hotel and the Spider Web Castle.
They are two ancient tree trunks made of concrete, inside are rooms with all the necessary amenities of a luxury hotel, named after animals such as: kangaroo, tiger, bear, pheasant, monkey...

A main block that looks like a dry tree trunk, inside is a spiral staircase that goes up and down freely and separate rooms. |
The most beautiful is still the “gourd” room - which is also the highest room and is very popular with international tourists. At night, if you sleep in this room, you can look straight up at the ceiling and enjoy watching the moon and stars...; at the same time, you can burn wood to keep warm all night long so you can sleep without a blanket.
Thuy Tien Lake Water Park in Hue
Thuy Tien Lake Park was opened in 2004 in an unfinished state, but the park was never completed, and was soon abandoned when it could not attract many tourists to this place. Gradually, it was forgotten and only naturally took on the task of "decoration".

The wild and quiet landscape here makes Thuy Tien Lake suddenly become an attractive destination for adventurous tourists. |
This project was introduced by the Daily Mail (UK) as a destination not to be missed for adventurous tourists.

Everything installed for this park is still intact, but placed next to the "surrounding" of nature after more than a decade of being forgotten, Thuy Tien Lake Park has a more wild and strange look, attracting tourists.
