In a recent article on FamilyShare, Mexican writer Ruth Huppe argues that men aren't the only ones who seek what they don't get in marriage. When wives are humiliated, abused, or ignored, they may seek solace in the arms of another man.

Ruth Huppe listed several reasons why a woman might fall in love with another man, and suggested things husbands should do to prevent such a disaster:

Lack of romance

A bouquet of flowers, a note taped to the refrigerator, a midday call to let her know how much you care. Women always appreciate these gestures. And don't forget the affectionate touches. You don't need to overdo it because your wife will be touched by the simple things you do for her.

Abandoned

If your job is stressful, remember that taking care of a child is just as tiring. Leave your worries, stress, and anger at the door so you can be proactive and ready to help your wife when you get home.

Lonely

Most women enjoy talking and confiding in each other, so if you don't spend at least five minutes each day listening to her, she won't want to talk to you at all. Your lack of attention can make her feel terribly lonely. If you're constantly traveling for work, make sure your long-distance relationship remains fun and romantic.

Furious

It's not pleasant to have to endure your partner's frustrations and anger. If she frequently finds herself in that situation, she'll be more likely to seek a gentler relationship. Learn to manage your emotions. If you're upset with your wife, wait a while until you're completely calm before talking to her and analyzing the situation. When you make a mistake, don't blame your wife; be brave enough to apologize to her.

Lack of support
