Young man sentenced to 12 years in prison for molesting 8-year-old child 5 times

On the morning of November 29, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Cut Van Pa (born 1991), residing in Ngoc Lam commune, Thanh Chuong, for the crimes of "Raping children" and "Destruction of property".

According to the indictment of the Provincial People's Procuracy, on the afternoon of May 16, 2016, on the way home from work, Cut Van Pa bought candy and then called Luong Thi Yen H. (born in 2008, living in the same village) to come over to his house to play. There, Pa enticed H. to have sex, and Pa would feed her candy. While Pa was committing a depraved act with H., Ms. Vi Thi D. (H.'s maternal grandmother) went looking for her and discovered her. Ms. D. took H. to the medical station for examination and reported it to the police.

While the police were processing the case, on the evening of June 25, Cut Van Pa took a knife to Mrs. D's family's buffalo pen and broke the leg of the family's female buffalo. The buffalo was injured and could no longer be raised, so Mrs. D had to butcher it and sell it.

On July 6, 2016, Cut Van Pa was arrested. At the investigation agency, Pa confessed that, from May 11 to May 14, 2016, Pa had committed 4 depraved acts with H.

At the trial, Cut Van Pa admitted his crime.

Considering the aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced Cut Van Pa to 12 years in prison for “Raping children” and 1 year in prison for “Destruction of property”. Combining the sentences of the two crimes, the defendant must serve 13 years in prison.

Regarding civil liability, the court ordered the defendant to compensate Luong Thi Yen H. 12 million VND for honor and mental damage; and compensate Ms. Vi Thi D. 4 million VND.
