With the increasingly dense system of traffic cameras and speed monitoring cameras installed on the roads, drivers who violate traffic laws are very likely to be fined.

If drivers and car owners do not comply with traffic laws when driving on the road, they will not only be directly fined by the traffic police but also be fined later. Below are 5 traffic violations that are often easily fined later when driving:

1. Driving a car at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit

This is one of the most common mistakes that causes drivers and car owners to be fined when driving, especially on long trips. The act of driving a car at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed will be recorded by the speed monitoring camera system on the routes, then the data is sent to the processing center, as a basis and evidence for fines.

According to the provisions of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP as well as some articles amended and supplemented in Decree 123/2021/ND-CP, drivers of cars exceeding the prescribed speed from 5 to under 10km/h will be fined from 800,000 to 1 million VND.

Fines of 4 - 6 million VND will be imposed for driving a car exceeding the speed limit by 10 to under 20 km/h (according to Point d, Clause 34, Article 2, Decree 123, amended and supplemented from Point i, Clause 5, Article 5 of Decree 100), and the driving license will be revoked by the competent authority for 1 - 3 months. If driving a car exceeding the speed limit by 20 to under 35 km/h (Point a, Clause 6, Article 5), the driving license will be revoked for 2 - 4 months. In particular, if driving a car exceeding the speed limit by more than 35 km/h, the fine will be from 10 - 12 million VND (Point c, Clause 7, Article 5) and the driving license will be revoked for 2 - 4 months.

Many traffic violations when driving make drivers susceptible to fines.

2. Not using turn signals when changing lanes

In addition to driving over the speed limit, not using turn signals when changing lanes or directions also causes many drivers to be fined. The main reason comes from the negligence and subjectivity of the drivers.

For the act of driving a car to change lanes without using the turn signal, the fine will be from 400,000 to 600,000 VND (according to point a, clause 2, article 5). If this violation occurs on the highway, drivers and vehicle owners are also very likely to be fined, the fine is up to 3 - 5 million VND (point g, clause 5, article 5). In addition, the right to use the driver's license will be revoked for 1 - 3 months.

Meanwhile, the act of driving a car without turning on the turn signal will be fined from 800 thousand to 1 million VND (point c, clause 3, article 5).

3. Running a red light

For the act of driving a car through a red light, the fine will be from 4 to 6 million VND (according to point d, clause 34, article 2, Decree 123/2021/NDCP amended and supplemented from point a, clause 5, article 5, Decree 100). In addition, the driver will also have his/her driving license revoked for 1 to 3 months or 2 to 4 months if causing an accident (point b, c, clause 11, article 5).

4. Driving in the wrong lane or section of the road

Driving in the wrong lane or lane can also easily result in many vehicles being fined. This error often occurs when driving in the city. In case of violation, the driver, car owner... will be fined from 3 to 5 VND (point d, clause 5, article 5) and have their driving license revoked for 1 to 3 months.

In case of driving in the wrong lane and causing an accident, the driver will be fined from 10 to 12 million VND (point a, clause 7, article 5), and the driver's license will be revoked for 2 to 4 months.

Driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street or on a street with a "no entry" sign for cars will be fined from 3 to 5 million VND.

5. Driving in the opposite direction

Driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street or on a street with a "no entry" sign for cars will be fined from 3 to 5 million VND (according to point c, clause 5, article 5) and have the driver's license revoked for 2 to 4 months.

If causing a traffic accident, the fine will be from 10 to 12 million VND (point a, clause 7, article 5), the driving license will be revoked for 2 to 4 months.
