5 tips to help restore dim car headlights at home
(Baonghean.vn) - After a long time of use, your car's headlights will definitely become dim due to sunlight, pollution or oxidation. Remember, the lighting system on the car plays an extremely important role in ensuring safety. Therefore, renewing dim headlights is very necessary.
1. Preliminary cleaning

For best results, wash the entire car, at least the front, first to remove dirt. Dry thoroughly after washing to prevent water from getting on the lights during cleaning.
2. Determine whether the light is dimmed on the outside or inside of the glass.

If the inside of the glass is foggy, it means that moisture has gotten inside and is causing the light to fog up. If possible, remove the glass and let it dry naturally in a cool place.
If the light is cloudy on the outside, try using water and glass cleaner to remove the dirt that is causing the fogging.
3. Seal the area around the light

Use painter's tape around the headlights, not the parts that need to be cleaned. Cover all parts that can be damaged, including the turn signals, during the polishing and sanding process.
4. Wipe with toothpaste

Apply toothpaste to a cloth and wipe the entire lamp, then rinse with water and dry. Toothpaste is mildly abrasive, it can remove dirt and fill scratches, and polish the plastic part of the lamp. However, do not use toothpaste with cooling particles, crystals or similar ingredients, as they will scratch the lamp.
5. Scrub with soap and sandpaper

Wash the headlights with soap and water and dry them. Then, sand them with 400 or 800 grit sandpaper to remove any remaining dirt. Then, use a finer grit sandpaper and rub in the other direction to restore the clarity of the headlights.
