5 supercars burned down on transport vehicle, damage of 1.5 million USD
Two McLaren 720S, two Corvettes and an Audi R8 were completely destroyed in a fire on a transport vehicle in Tennessee, USA, while participating in the Crown Rally.
Fire burns down million dollar supercars
A massive fire broke out on a highway in Chattanooga, Tennessee, destroying five supercars being transported on a trailer. The vehicles were on their way to the annual Crown Rally from Boston to Atlanta. The total damage was estimated at $1.5 million.

Specific developments and damages
According to the truck driver, he was alerted by a passerby about smoke coming from the rear of the trailer. The driver immediately pulled over to a nearby station and called for help. However, the fire spread so quickly that firefighters were unable to extinguish the fire and save the vehicles inside.
The list of supercars completely destroyed in the fire includes:
- 2 McLaren 720S
- 1 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
- 1 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
- 1 Audi R8
Before the incident, the supercar fleet had just completed a test run at Atlanta Motorsports Park, part of the Crown Rally event schedule. Fortunately, the fire did not cause any human casualties.
Original cause and similar incidents
The official cause of the fire has not yet been released and is under investigation. However, many believe the fire may have started in the center of the trailer, possibly due to one of the vehicles spontaneously combusting.
While incidents involving supercars on transporters are rare, fires on transport vehicles are not unheard of. As recently as last month in California, a tractor-trailer carrying several new Tesla electric vehicles caught fire, causing serious damage to the shipment.
