Walnuts are a good source of magnesium, which may help relieve depression. |
Raw walnuts and cashews
According to nutritionists, one ounce (about 28 grams) of walnuts has 4 grams of protein (which helps keep you full and keeps blood sugar stable) and 2 grams of fiber (which also helps keep you feeling full).
These nuts are also a good source of magnesium and phosphorus: low magnesium levels are associated with an increased risk of depression, while high magnesium levels reduce depressive symptoms.
Walnuts also contain cell-protecting antioxidants and are low in carbohydrates, which means they won't cause spikes in blood sugar and insulin. Insulin spikes are one reason why our moods plummet, especially in the late afternoon.
Suggested servings:A handful

Suggested servings:For salads, one to two cups of raw kale. For juice, the same amount. For kale chips, it's best to make them at home and aim for 5-10 chips.

They are also rich in essential nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids. And, of course, they have long been considered a “love potion.”
Oysters are also a great source of zinc – an often underrated mineral – and vitamin B12. Zinc helps the body fight stress and is essential for the part of the brain that regulates mood and memory.
Recommended serving:6 to 12 oysters

Avoid drinking coffee with a lot of sugar, as it causes bloating.
