5 revelations no airline wants passengers to know
Some of the secrets travelers need to know when looking for cheap airfare or traveling by air have been revealed.
How to find the cheapest tickets, why you shouldn’t drink coffee on the plane…? Airlines can explain it to you. The important thing is whether they want to or not?
1. The more you search, the more the airfare increases
Be careful when searching for flights on the Internet because airlines are tracking you. When you visit an airline's website or a travel search engine to get information about airfares, the website records your activities and information through cookies.(a cookie is a piece of code that allows a website to store information on a user's computer and later retrieve it).
“For example, if you repeatedly search for information about Barcelona, the airline you use will know that, and more importantly, they can gradually increase the price of the ticket each time you visit the website,” warns Jamie Campbell, a travel expert.
2. Sometimes cheap tickets are given out by mistake.
Every now and then, airlines will offer a bunch of tickets at ridiculously low prices. This isn’t a sales campaign. In most cases, it’s a system error.
“Once the cheap tickets are released, they can't be taken back,” Campbell explains.

3. Don't drink tea or coffee on the plane
Airlines store water in large containers inside planes. This water is used for toilets and… to make tea and coffee for passengers.
“While water for tea and coffee is usually heated to kill most bacteria, the water tanks under the belly of the plane are rarely cleaned,” says travel blogger Kyle Stewart. “Wait until you land to drink your coffee or tea. The plane’s water tanks were most likely installed more than 20 years ago.”
4. Buying one-way tickets from different airlines is cheaper
Most passengers find it more convenient and simpler to buy a round-trip ticket from one airline, but it turns out that it's not the most cost-effective way.
“What airlines don't want you to know is that buying two one-way tickets from different airlines can be cheaper than a round-trip ticket from the same airline,” says Rishi Kapoor, CEO of Nanak Flights.
“Not many people know this, but it can save you a significant amount of money. Our only advice is to carefully review the penalty clauses in case you want to cancel your ticket because you will have to pay the fees to each airline separately.”
5. Travel agents have tickets at discounted prices
When hunting for cheap airfare, don't forget to call a travel agent or two.
“Airlines often offer special rates to travel agents to sell over the phone,” Kapoor said. “These tickets are cheaper, and you won’t be able to find the same price online.”
