In 2015, Hyundai took the Vietnamese automotive market by storm with a series of new cars at prices affordable to Vietnamese consumers.

Santa Fe 5-seater

Price: 999 million VND

The 5-seater SantaFe was launched in Vietnam in early May 2015. The car inherits the modern design and features, the advantages that contributed to the success of the 2015 SantaFe. Overall, the 5-seater SantaFe has an appearance that is no different from the 7-seater version. The dimensions remain the same, allowing for a larger luggage compartment, convenient for long trips.

The car still adheres to the main "Storm Edge" design concept with projector-type xenon headlights, a luxurious chrome grille, and LED taillights.

The 5-seater Santa Fe is equipped with two engine options. The 2.4L Thera II MPI gasoline engine delivers a maximum power of 176ps at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 227Nm at 3,750 rpm. The 2.2 CRD-i diesel engine with electronically controlled eVGT turbocharger delivers a maximum power of 197ps at 3,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 436Nm at 1,800-2,500 rpm. All versions use a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Grand i10 sedan

Price: From 399 million VND

Earlier this year, Hyundai Thanh Cong officially introduced the sedan version of its popular Grand i10 model.

The Grand i10 sedan has a modern and sporty appearance. The distinctive hexagonal grille and embossed lines along the body give the Grand i10 sedan a youthful and个性 (individualistic) look.

Inside, the spacious and airy interior comfortably seats five people. The extended length of the vehicle has significantly increased seating capacity for both the driver and rear passengers. Notably, the rear luggage compartment boasts a capacity of up to 407 liters (an increase of 151 liters compared to previous Grand i10 versions), providing ample storage space for long journeys.

Despite being a relatively affordable sedan, the Grand i10 sedan is still equipped with very practical features, including: electric power steering, tilt steering wheel, remote door lock, power adjustable rearview mirrors, power windows, and a 4-speaker sound system.

At the heart of the Grand i10 sedan is a 1.2-liter Kappa engine delivering a maximum power of 87 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a torque of 120 Nm at 4,000 rpm. This new generation Kappa engine offers smoother operation and better fuel efficiency compared to competitors in the same segment. The car is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission featuring improvements for increased smoothness, quietness, and durability.

Hyundai i20 Active

Price: 619 million VND (estimated)

The small crossover segment in Vietnam, where the Ecosport currently dominates, will become more attractive with the official launch of the Hyundai i20 Active this July.

The car's exterior design is balanced and harmonious, with dimensions of 3,995 x 1,760 x 1,555 (mm) in length, width, and height respectively. In addition, details such as the modern hexagonal grille with horizontal bars, combined with European-style headlights, LED daytime running lights, position lights, cornering lights, etc., are also highlights of the car's exterior.

In terms of equipment, the Hyundai i20 Active features projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, body cladding, power-folding mirrors, an 8-speaker sound system, push-button start, smart key, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.

The engine produces a maximum power of 82 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 114.7 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Fuel consumption for the gasoline engine is 17.19 km/liter, equivalent to 5.8 liters/100 km.

Hyundai ix25

Price: Over 600 million VND (for reference only)

According to reports, Hyundai Thanh Cong will bring the ix25 compact SUV to the Vietnamese market around the third quarter of 2015. The ix25 will contribute to revitalizing the Urban SUV segment in Vietnam, where the Ford EcoSport currently holds a dominant position.

Notable features of the Hyundai ix25 include projector headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, a panoramic sunroof, large 5-spoke alloy wheels, power-folding exterior mirrors, a multimedia infotainment system with touchscreen display, cruise control, automatic climate control, and keyless start.

It is highly likely that the Hyundai ix25 will be introduced in Vietnam with two different 4-cylinder gasoline engine options: 1.6 and 2.0 liters. The 1.6-liter engine boasts a maximum power of 122.8 horsepower and a maximum torque of 150.7 Nm. The corresponding figures for the 2.0-liter engine are 158 horsepower and 192 Nm. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Hyundai Tucson

Price: over 900 million VND (estimated)

The new generation 2016 Tucson is expected to appear in Vietnam around the fourth quarter of this year, subsequently becoming a strong competitor to the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5, which are currently leading the 5-seater crossover segment.

Adopting the styling of its "big brother" SantaFe, the 2016 Tucson looks more attractive and appealing than the current version thanks to its angular design, distinctive hexagonal chrome grille, and slim headlights. The car is equipped with LED daytime running lights.

Meanwhile, the interior space has also been significantly improved with a more premium look thanks to soft materials and a large touchscreen. Other notable features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome accents on the door handles, heated and ventilated front seats, power tailgate, and a 513-liter luggage compartment.

In terms of performance, the new Hyundai Tucson is equipped with a 1.6L GDI naturally aspirated engine producing 135 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Additionally, there is a turbocharged version with 176 horsepower and an optional 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
