(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, bacterial stripe disease causing damage to rice has broken out in Nghia Dan with more than 500 hectares, concentrated in Nghia Long, Nghia Loc, Nghia Hoi communes and Nghia Dan town,...

The increasingly erratic weather conditions are favorable for bacterial stripe disease to arise and cause damage to rice. In Nghia Hoi commune, in the spring crop of 2018, the whole commune planted 286 hectares, up to this point the infected area accounts for over 60%.

The District Plant Protection and Cultivation Station has sent technical staff to inspect and guide people to apply a combination of technical measures: stop applying fertilizers, especially nitrogen fertilizers, leaf growth stimulants and use some chemicals to minimize damage caused by pests and diseases.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tran in Dong Tien hamlet, Nghia Hoi commune said: "After the announcement of bacterial stripe disease, we sprayed chemicals according to the instructions of the station staff and the commune's agricultural extension board. Up to now, the entire area of our family has been sprayed."

In Nghia Loc commune, out of 370 hectares, over 80 hectares were infected with bacterial stripe disease. Thanks to detecting the infected area, people implemented disease prevention early, so the later-flowering rice leaves were not infected. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Han in Trai hamlet, Nghia Loc, his family grows 3 sao of rice. Immediately after the rice was infected with bacterial stripe disease, technical staff of the district's Plant Protection and Cultivation Station instructed him on how to spray pesticides promptly, so his family's rice area was not much affected. Currently, people continue to monitor to prevent pests and diseases in time.
