500 women and children captured as sex slaves by IS
Most of the victims came from ethnic minorities such as Yezidi and Christian, the UN report said.
The New York Daily News reported that on October 2, the United Nations released a report on the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS). According to the United Nations, this organization has kidnapped about 500 women and children in Iraq and Syria and forced them to become sex slaves.

Many were given to Islamic State fighters as “rewards,” while others were sold on the black market. The victims were mostly from minority groups such as the Yezidi and Christian groups, the U.N. report said.
“Women and children on the black market are priced at a fixed rate so that buyers can choose and bargain. Buyers come mainly from nearby local areas,” the report reads on page 29.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al Hussein called the actions of the Islamic State "shocking" and said many of them amounted to "war crimes".
According to Reuters, in addition to abusing women and children, the report also listed many other crimes committed by the Islamic State organization such as massacres, or forcing many children to join the army.
Reuters quoted the spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Colville, as saying: "The UN report has clearly stated that war crimes and crimes against humanity are taking place in Iraq. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights calls on Iraq to refer these cases directly to the International Criminal Court as soon as possible"./.
