(Baonghean.vn) –The steep slopes leading to Dinh Phong village (Tam Dinh, Tuong Duong) are natural grazing grounds favorable for livestock development, especially mountain goats. Taking advantage of this, 6 young men from Dinh Phong village boldly invested in goat farming with the dream of escaping poverty.

This herd of plump, healthy goats belongs to Mr. Vi Van Chau (born in 1985) and his wife. Like 5 other young households with the same goal of escaping poverty through goats in Dinh Phong village, the herd of goats has been raised since 2013 under a support project of the Provincial Youth Union. At that time, he was able to borrow 20 million VND to buy 4 breeding goats. After 3 years, he has produced 5 litters, each litter of 2 to 3 goats. |
 |
According to Mr. Chau, compared to raising buffalo or cows, raising goats is more profitable because the time for a young goat to mature and reproduce is only 7 to 12 months (at this time the goat will reach a weight of 30-35 kg/goat). On average, each year, a female goat gives birth to a litter of about 3 kids. Regarding investment in the barn, it does not require a large area, and is simply designed by him, so it is not expensive. |

Thanks to the goats, he was able to get married and build a house last year. This year, he and his wife also bought a motorbike to make it easier to travel and do business. |

Sharing the joy of escaping poverty with Mr. Chau, Mr. Ngan Van Dan (born in 1987) and his wife, Ms. Lo Thi Thu (born in 1988) started raising 3 breeding goats since 2013. Currently, the family's total herd has 15 goats. |

Before, the couple lived on a small area of upland rice cultivation, each crop yielding only 5.6 tons of rice, no matter how hard they tried. Now, raising goats, just 2 goats, yields nearly a ton of rice each year. |
 |
The market price of goats is from 150,000 to 170,000 VND per kilogram. If not for meat, the breeder can sell the goats for breeding. After 4 months of birth, the kid weighs about 1.5 yen and can be sold for breeding. |
 |
In the village, Vi Van Thiu, Vi Van Ninh, and Kha Van Pan have also succeeded in raising goats. Thanks to this source of income, they have established families, stabilized their lives, their children have been able to go to school, and their families have been able to buy many conveniences and means of production. In the photo is the herd of goats belonging to the family of La Van Quy, Secretary of the Youth Union of Dinh Phong village. |
