Due to the supervisor's mistake in Lao Cai and Son La, 4 candidates had to retake the exam using backup questions on the afternoon of June 27.

On the afternoon of June 27, the Ministry of Education and Training announced that 887,100 candidates nationwide registered to take the National High School Exam, with a participation rate of over 99%.

During the 3 days of the exam, 6 invigilators and 79 candidates violated the regulations, of which 72 were suspended from the exam for bringing documents and phones into the room, 3 were warned, and 4 were reprimanded. All 6 invigilators were suspended from their exam duties.

In Phu Tho, when 2/3 of the test time was up, the exam questions appeared on social media. The exam steering committee and the provincial police investigated. Through initial verification, an independent candidate brought a phone into the room, took a picture of the questions and asked a friend outside to help solve them. This candidate was suspended from the exam, and 2 invigilators in that room were also suspended from their duties because they did not detect the candidate bringing a phone into the room.

In Lao Cai, in an exam room, an invigilator mistakenly signed the name of the examiner in the box of the exam paper of 3 candidates. After a while, the invigilator discovered the mistake, affecting the rights of the candidates. The two invigilators in that room were suspended from duty. The candidates were allowed to retake the exam on the afternoon of June 27 using a backup exam paper.

In Son La, a candidate registered his/her registration number incorrectly in the Literature subject. The exam supervisor did not handle the situation flexibly, so the exam steering committee decided to suspend 2 exam supervisors and let the candidate take the exam with a backup exam this afternoon.

"The suspension of the exam supervisor is temporary. We will continue to review the individual's responsibility to determine the next course of action," said Mr. Mai Van Trinh - Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training).

According to Mr. Trinh, the National High School Exam recorded technical errors at some testing locations such as wrongly distributing test codes or printing missing test papers. However, these cases have all been handled, and the examination council compensated for the test time to ensure the rights of candidates.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Education and Training will implement the essay grading process in accordance with regulations, from marking two independent rounds to checking at least 5% of the exam papers, in which high-scoring papers must be selected for re-grading.

Regarding the grading of multiple-choice tests, the Ministry directs universities and colleges to grade tests in accordance with regulations, ensuring accuracy. The multiple-choice test grading software has been upgraded to enhance security, all data is encrypted, including answers.

The Ministry of Education and Training has established inspection teams to inspect the marking of exams at 63 examination councils, with more members than last year. In addition to two officials from universities, the team also has one chief inspector or deputy chief inspector from the Department of Education and Training, but they are not allowed to work in the locality where they work.

"Thus, each council will have three inspectors. The Ministry will supervise to ensure that the inspection team carries out their duties seriously," said Mr. Nguyen Huy Bang - Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The Ministry will not announce the answers immediately but will wait for the right time to ensure the grading process and limit negativity. The exam results will be announced on July 14 (3 days later than in 2018). Candidates can submit applications for re-grading from July 14 to 23.
