The Ministry of Education and Training has just sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and cities regarding the inspection and definitive handling of the situation of overcharging in educational institutions.

- Stop using the name of the parent-teacher association to collect fees outside of regulations.

- The parents' representative committee is not allowed to collect the following fees: protecting school facilities; looking after students' transportation; cleaning classrooms and schools; rewarding school administrators, teachers and staff; purchasing machinery, equipment and teaching aids for schools, classrooms or for school administrators, teachers and staff;

Support management, organization of teaching and educational activities, repair, upgrade and construction of new school facilities.

- The parents' representative committee only collects fees directly serving the activities of the representative committee.

The Ministry of Education and Training also requested strict handling of heads of educational institutions and responsibility of state management agencies of education in the area that allowed overcharging to occur.
