6 types of horrible poisons that have been used in the world
(Baonghean.vn) - On April 8, an attack using the nerve agent Sarin occurred in the town of Douma, Syria, killing at least 70 people. The following 5 types of chemical toxins have been used in the world.
1. VX nerve agent

VX is one of the most popular chemical weapons produced by the British in the early 1950s. The United Nations listed VX as a weapon of mass destruction under Resolution 687. In 1958, the formula for producing this weapon fell into the hands of the Americans and Washington decided to produce VX on a large scale in 1961.
This weapon is a liquid chemical that kills its victims using the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. Victims exposed to it will surely die if the liquid is not washed off in time.
In normal weather conditions, VX can last for several days. In cold environments, VX can last for several months. When poisoned, the victim will experience symptoms of sudden increase or decrease in blood pressure, blurred vision, chest tightness, cough, diarrhea, drooling, profuse sweating, drowsiness, eye pain, headache, frequent urination, abdominal pain, rapid breathing, runny nose, heart failure, and convulsions.
2. Sarin poison

Sarin is a highly toxic chemical used as a chemical weapon. |
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), sarin is 26 times more deadly than cyanide. Just a pinprick-sized drop of sarin can kill a person quickly. Heavier than air, sarin poison can last for 6 hours. When poisoned, victims will experience symptoms such as headache, nausea, blurred vision, drooling, convulsions, respiratory arrest and unconsciousness.
In 2017, a sarin attack in an opposition-held area of the Syrian capital Damascus killed more than 1,300 people, including many women and children. In 1995, sarin was also used in an attack on a subway station in the Japanese capital Tokyo, killing 13 people and injuring thousands.
3. Mustard gas

Mustard gas, also known as sulfur mustard, gets its name from its pungent smell resembling mustard, garlic or onions. Pure mustard gas is a colorless viscous liquid at 25-28 degrees Celsius.
Mustard gas, also known as sulfur mustard, causes chemical burns to the skin, eyes, and lungs. It can kill, disfigure, cause cancer, or cause permanent blindness.
During the Iran-Iraq war, mustard gas penetrated the face shields that Iranians often wore (for religious reasons) and caused injuries. Mustard gas can also easily penetrate clothing, shoes, and other materials.
4.Phosgene - extremely dangerous toxic gas

To this day, phosgene is considered one of the most dangerous chemical weapons in existence. It was first used in combination with chlorine gas on December 19, 1915, when the German army released 88 tons of the gas on British troops, killing 120 and injuring 1,069.
Phosgene is an industrial chemical used in the manufacture of plastics and pesticides. It is a choking agent, working by attacking lung tissue.
Upon initial exposure, the victim experiences coughing, a burning sensation in the throat and watery eyes, sore eyes, blurred vision, shortness of breath and vomiting, followed by difficulty breathing, coughing up pink fluid, low blood pressure, and heart failure.
5. Chlorine gas

The Germans first used chlorine to destroy their enemies on the battlefield on April 22, 1915. The Germans deployed thousands of chlorine gas cylinders and destroyed two entire French and Algerian divisions. The gas caused sharp pains in the throat and chest.
Chlorine gas seeps into body fluids, corrosive to the eyes, throat, and lungs. It can react with water in the lining of the lungs to form hydrochloric acid, a deadly irritant.
6. Agent Orange

Agent Orange is a mixture of two herbicides, and is most famous for its use in the Vietnam War. It is not a chemical weapon in the strict sense, but is no less dangerous than a chemical weapon, used by the US as a chemical weapon to destroy human life and the environment.
Although designed as a herbicide, Agent Orange contained large amounts of dioxin, an extremely toxic compound, making it one of the most "deadly" chemical weapons in human history.
At high concentrations, dioxin causes severe inflammation of the skin, lungs and mucous membranes, sometimes leading to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary edema, diabetes, eye, liver, kidney disease and many other serious illnesses. It is also a serious carcinogen, causing cancer of the larynx and lung.
It is estimated that the use of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War killed or injured over 400,000 people, and 500,000 children were born with serious birth defects. Agent Orange alone can cause 10 times more deaths than all other chemical weapons combined./.
