1.Drinking alcohol while driving

During Tet, when gathering with family and friends, it is difficult to avoid drinking... To ensure the safety of yourself and others, drivers who have consumed alcohol are not allowed to drive.

According to Decree 46/2016 on administrative sanctions in the field of road traffic

- Fine of 2 - 3 million VND if alcohol concentration does not exceed 50 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or does not exceed 0.25 milligrams/1 liter of breath; Driver's license suspension for 1 - 3 months.

- Fine of 7 - 8 million VND if alcohol concentration exceeds 50 - 80 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or exceeds 0.25 - 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath; Driver's license suspension for 3 - 5 months.

- Fine of 16-18 million VND if alcohol concentration exceeds 80 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or exceeds 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath; or does not comply with the request of an officer on duty to check alcohol concentration. Driver's license will be revoked for 4-6 months.

2. Speeding

Driving over the speed limit is one of the mistakes many drivers often make during Tet.

According to Decree 46/2016: - Fine from 600,000 - 800,000 VND if the driver drives a car exceeding the speed limit from 5 to under 10 km/hour.

- Fine from 2 to 3 million VND if the driver drives a car 10 to 20 km/h over the speed limit.

- Fines from 7 to 8 million VND for drivers exceeding the speed limit by more than 35 km/h.

3. Failure to comply with traffic light signals

This is a very common mistake during the first days of the year, sparse traffic and a small traffic police force cause many drivers to not seriously obey traffic light signals.

Cars violating this law will be handled according to Decree 171/2013/ND-CP with a fine of 800,000 - 1,200,000 VND; driver's license will be confiscated for 30 days.

4. Using the phone while driving

One of the common mistakes that drivers get fined for is using their mobile phones while driving. This is also one of the reasons why drivers lose concentration and lead to traffic accidents.

In these cases, there will be an administrative fine of 600,000 - 800,000 VND.

5. Changing lanes in an unauthorized place

In addition to speeding, drivers who change lanes in the wrong place or without signaling will be fined from 300,000 to 400,000 VND.

6. Not wearing a seat belt when riding in a car

Along with the driver sitting in the driver's seat, the person sitting in the back seat of the car who does not wear a seat belt (where equipped) while the car is moving will be fined.

Specifically, point k, clause 1, article 5 of the Decree states: A fine of 100,000 VND to 200,000 VND shall be imposed for the act of "not wearing a seat belt (in a position equipped with a seat belt) while the vehicle is running".

According to point l, clause 1, article 5, the act of "carrying people in a car without wearing a seat belt (in a position equipped with a seat belt) while the car is running" is also subject to a fine of 100,000 VND to 200,000 VND.
