6 Reasons Why Your Car's Heating System Isn't Working

1. Engine temperature controller stuck

The engine temperature controller is responsible for controlling the engine's heating when the vehicle is running. If this part is stuck open, the engine will be at a low temperature and thus will not be able to generate heat for the heating system causing the system to fail... Remove and inspect the thermostat to make sure it is not stuck or damaged.

2. Coolant leak into the engine

When the car's heating system does not work, check the engine for coolant leaks and check the coolant level in the car for drops. Because when the engine is soaked or coolant leaks, the heating system will not be able to work.

3. Hot control valve clogged

A clogged heater control valve in your vehicle's heater system can prevent coolant from reaching the heater core with the air conditioning function causing the heater to not work... Check this control valve to make sure it is not clogged.

4. Heating system vacuum line open

When the heating system's vacuum line leaks steam through the heater control valve, the heating system will not be able to operate. The symptom of this vacuum line leak is a hissing noise in the system when the engine is running.

5. Heating core is damaged

The heating core is responsible for converting coolant into hot air. If this heating core is damaged, the system will fail and not run.

To check for a faulty heater core, start the car and let it warm up to normal temperature. Check the two heater tubes, if both are hot then the part is not faulty, if only one tube is hot then the heater core or control valve is definitely faulty and needs to be replaced.

6. Gas blending door actuator fault

The electronically controlled hot air control door in the furnace compartment may be defective. Check the operation of the hot and cold mixing door actuator in the furnace system and replace it to correct the defect.
