In 6 months, Nghe An fishermen earned nearly 2,000 billion VND from catching seafood.

Nghe An is a locality with advantages in developing marine economy, in which seafood exploitation and fishing are the main activities. The whole province currently has 2,337 operating vessels.fishingAt sea, localities with a large number of ships include: Hoang Mai town with 894 ships, Quynh Luu district with 605 ships, and Dien Chau district with 566 ships.Accordingly,fishermenSeafood is caught mainly by: gillnets, purse seines, grab nets, hooks, traps, dragnets... Most seafood is caught in the open sea.

Information from the Department of Fisheries said that aquatic product exploitation output in June reached nearly 20,000 tons, equal to 11.46% of the yearly plan, equal to 109.24% compared to the same period last year.

In the first 6 months of the year, the exploited output reached over 95,000 tons, with an estimated value of nearly 2,000 billion VND, equal to 109.60% over the same period last year, reaching 55.91% of the yearly plan.

Of which, shrimp is 149 tons, selected fish is nearly 15,000 tons, scad is nearly 37,000 tons, squid of all kinds is nearly 1,200 tons, crab is nearly 400 tons, the rest is miscellaneous fish and other types.

Nghe An plans to exploit 170,000 tons of seafood in 2021.

However, the impact ofCovid-19 epidemichas caused difficulties in the process of deploying and performing tasks as well as significantly affecting the prices and consumption markets of fishermen's products in the past 6 months.
