(Baonghean.vn) - On July 17th, the Nghe An Health Department held a conference to review the first six months of the year and implement tasks for the last six months.

In the first six months of the year, the health sector actively directed and coordinated well between different levels, proactively monitoring infectious diseases and preventing dangerous and large-scale outbreaks. The quality of medical examination and treatment has improved significantly, and the quality of healthcare services has been increasingly enhanced, basically meeting the healthcare needs of the people.

Many new techniques have been implemented and applied in medical examinations and treatments at hospitals at all levels, such as: cardiovascular intervention, open-heart surgery, kidney transplantation, bone marrow transplantation and stem cell transplantation for breast cancer treatment, neurosurgery, arthroscopic surgery, total hip replacement... Over 2.28 million people received medical examinations, over 220,000 were inpatients, and over 25,000 surgeries of various types were performed. In addition, other tasks such as: prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, food safety and hygiene, HIV/AIDS prevention and control, and population and family planning work were also carried out effectively...

In addition, the sector also faces difficulties such as: limited quality of medical examination and treatment in high mountainous districts; the problem of hospital overcrowding has not improved much; long waiting times and cumbersome administrative procedures; insufficient number of medical staff; imbalances in qualifications between different levels of healthcare and between regions; a severe shortage of university-trained doctors and pharmacists in mountainous areas, especially doctors for the preventive medicine system...

Investment in the development of the public healthcare system remains limited, and the budget allocated to healthcare is low compared to development needs. While infrastructure for both outpatient and preventive healthcare has improved, some facilities are in a state of disrepair. Provincial hospitals only meet 60% of essential equipment needs, and most district-level hospitals and regional polyclinics lack basic medical equipment.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing the difficulties and obstacles their units were facing, and also offered practical suggestions and directions to improve the industry's performance in the last six months of the year.

For the last six months of the year, the sector will continue to strengthen disease surveillance and prevention, effectively implement national health target programs, develop human resource training, promote the socialization of healthcare, and enhance international cooperation. The goal is to achieve 7 doctors per 10,000 people, 1.2 university-trained pharmacists per 10,000 people, 97% of villages with active healthcare workers, 25 hospital beds per 10,000 people, 60% of communes meeting national health criteria, and 95% of children under one year old receiving full immunization...

In their keynote address at the conference, the health sector leaders highly appreciated the achievements made while emphasizing key tasks such as: preventing large and medium-sized epidemics from occurring, controlling and containing outbreaks promptly to prevent widespread transmission; effectively implementing national health target programs; striving to achieve set performance targets; effectively carrying out medical examination, treatment and rehabilitation; promoting the management of private medical and pharmaceutical practices, the management of drugs, cosmetics and medical equipment, and developing information technology and scientific research...
