61 Yen Tinh students still have to study in temporary classes

(Baonghean.vn)- The school collapsed due to deterioration and storms. Since the beginning of the year, 61 primary school students in Pa Khom and Huoi Pai villages, Yen Tinh commune (Tuong Duong - Nghe An) have had to study in temporary houses built by their parents.

The shared school of the two villages of Huoi Pai and Pa Khom was hastily built as a temporary structure when both schools could no longer be used.

The new school year is almost here, but the teachers of Yen Tinh Secondary School 2 are still gathered at the school located between Huoi Pai and Pa Khom villages to work on repairing the school and leveling the yard so that the children have a place to play. On the weekend morning, the working atmosphere is still urgent. Teachers take advantage of the working day before the weekend to work on the school grounds to prepare for the new school week.

In the 2016-2017 school year, this school had 61 students studying in temporary bamboo houses built by their parents. Parents also had to contribute money to buy iron nets to make fences.

A young teacher who used to teach in this area shared: Previously, each village had a school, but it has seriously degraded. In Huoi Pai village, there were 5 wooden classrooms that were degraded and collapsed at the end of the last school year. Pa Khom village only has 2 classrooms, so many grades had to combine classes or borrow temporary community buildings. The teachers' dormitory here is also severely damaged. "A few years ago, when I taught in Pa Khom, I didn't dare stay in the house because I was afraid it would collapse when it rained," said the young teacher.

Teachers race against time to renovate the school for the new school year.

In an effort to ensure a place for students to study, Yen Tinh Secondary School has chosen to build a new school between two villages to share the distance. However, this is only a temporary solution. Teacher Le Tuyen Huan, vice principal of the school said: "We are still waiting for the construction plan from the superiors."

Chairman of Yen Tinh Commune People's Committee, Mr. Vi Van Khiem also expressed his concern. However, according to him, this problem is beyond the commune's ability to solve, so it must wait for a solution from higher levels.
