Analyzing the data, Dr. Pham Nhu Nghe - Deputy Head of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) - said: This year, the number of questions sent by candidates to the ministry's hotline is less than last year.
During the time candidates registered for the exam and applied for admission, there were basically no problems. Candidates mainly asked for more information about priority policies, consulted about majors and the timeline for the 2019 university entrance exam and admission.
* Is there any difference in the statistics of candidates' wishes (NV) for admission to universities in 2019 compared to last year? Which groups of schools have the largest number of NV registrations?
- General statistics show that the average number of candidates registering for university admission in 2019 is 3.94 candidates. In which, the candidate registering the largest number of candidates is a candidate from Hanoi with 50 candidates.
Particularly, the number of schools with a large number of registered employees (over 30,000 employees) is in the group of prestigious schools that have created a brand, large-scale schools, multi-disciplinary schools representing the region...

* What about schools with very low NV registration, sir?
- It is true that there are still many schools with low registration numbers, from 1 to less than 50 candidates. Among them are schools with low quotas, some private schools, colleges, pedagogical colleges, schools in areas with difficult socio-economic conditions and transportation...
Here, we can divide into several groups of schools with low number of candidates registering for admission such as: due to the students' NV for the field of study (for example, agriculture and forestry - although society has a large demand for use, the demand of students is limited, the number of candidates registering is low, even in high-quality training schools); pedagogical colleges and intermediate pedagogical schools due to the limited number of quotas in recent years.
In addition, schools that enroll students based on high school academic results often reduce the number of applicants who enroll based on high school exam results or schools that have not yet established a reputation with students and society. This phenomenon has occurred for many years.
In fact, in recent years, schools in the group with few registered employees (some local universities, some non-public universities) have made many efforts to improve training quality and build prestige with society.
On the other hand, local schools have the strength of directly meeting the local labor needs, low tuition costs, and in some schools with guaranteed quality, the rate of students having jobs after graduation is quite high, so the rate of candidates applying to these schools has changed positively.
However, some schools in this group have low training quality, have not yet built up prestige and brand with society, combined with the psychology of students wanting to leave their families to become independent, so some schools in some areas still face difficulties in recruiting students.
* What should schools do to overcome the shortage of enrollment compared to the target?
- Schools need to implement many solutions to improve training quality. Such as developing teaching staff, improving facilities, focusing on quality assurance and inspection, controlling input quality, training process quality and output quality.
In the current context, training needs to be linked to the needs of use, enhancing positive and effective connections with employers. From there, determine appropriate training targets, innovate goals, update and innovate program content, training methods as well as enhance support for students during their studies and job search after graduation...
* With the unlimited number of applicants, many schools and industries will have a "huge" number of applicants. Does the "competition" ratio still have much meaning in this context?
- If the number of candidates applying for admission is not limited, many schools and majors will have a large number of applicants. However, the "competition" rate in this context is still meaningful because the quota for the major is limited, but if the number of candidates applying is large, the "competition" rate is still high.
In admission, the rate of successful candidates must balance training targets with learner needs and the number of candidates with high scores registering for admission.
Traditional exam blocks still have many NV
* Current statistics show that candidates' admissions teams are focusing on which admissions groups and training majors and groups?
- Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training does not have enough accurate data to be able to analyze which training groups candidates are focusing on. However, up to this point, statistics show that about 90% of candidates have registered for 5 traditional admission groups (equivalent to the 5 previous traditional exam groups A, A1, B, C, D). The remaining hundreds of groups have only about 10% of candidates registered.
