The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced a list of 681 majors in 147 colleges nationwide that do not meet the conditions to continue enrolling students.

The Ministry of Education and Training stated that it has conducted surveys and compiled statistics on colleges in accordance with regulations. The Ministry announced the initial results of handling cases of college-level programs that do not meet the prescribed conditions.

The main reasons these programs are ineligible for enrollment are primarily due to a failure to recruit students for three consecutive years or to meet the required faculty standards for opening the program (a minimum of four lecturers with master's degrees).

Accordingly, many college-level training programs have failed to recruit students for three consecutive years, and hundreds of programs lack lecturers. Specifically, there are 255 training programs in 37 colleges in the Northwest, Central Highlands, Southwest, and northern mountainous regions; and 426 programs in 110 colleges in the rest of the country.

The Ministry of Education and Training also stated that to ensure data reliability, it requests schools to review their statistical reports, verify data on the number of students and full-time faculty members by training program, and, if necessary, submit supplementary statistical reports with relevant supporting evidence.

By March 6th, based on reports from schools, the Ministry of Education and Training will finalize the list using supplementary data from the schools and handle those majors that do not meet the enrollment requirements by suspending enrollment (as stipulated in Points a and b, Clause 1, Article 7 of Circular No. 08/2011/TT-BGDĐT).
