7 things to discuss with your Educational Technology program reviewer
Dr. Nguyen Hoang Chuong is the principal of a high school in Lam Dong. After reading the article Some discussions on Professor Ho Ngoc Dai's speech during the presentation, Dr. Chuong "asked" to discuss.
1. Educational technology
NM Iacôplép (1975), with the monograph Methods and techniques of teaching in general schools, the author emphasized:“The meaning of teaching is how to make children learn, that is, to carry out the technological process of perception, processing, consolidation and practical application of skills and knowledge”.
According to this approach, “the main actor of the learning process is the student, it is the student who directly carries out the technological process of his own development and improvement”.
Also according to NM Iacôplep, “in teaching there are two overlapping technological processes: the “teacher’s” process and the “student’s” process. Both of these processes take place simultaneously, so combining them together harmoniously is a difficult task.”
Student-centered teaching, every day at school is a happy day, is the content of educational technology, always valuable, needs to be applied and continue to develop to new heights in the context of current educational innovation.
A carefully designed teaching process, if presented in textbooks, is essential for grade 1 and the following grades. Asserting that for the upper grades (after grade 1) is inappropriate and ineffective - a subjective, imposed, and unscientific statement.
It is even more imposing to say that in TV1 - CNGD there are "extreme" things, extreme or resolutely groundbreaking?
2. For grade 1, “vacuum of meaning” – why not?
Kindergarten and first grade children, when communicating with family and acquaintances, sometimes speak like adults, without fully understanding what they are saying.
There are some simple things that the children have never heard before so they are confused when answering.
My nephew entered first grade, the teacher asked: "Are you Mr. Chuong's nephew?"No," my nephew replied.
Knowing the story, I asked him why, he innocently replied that it was only... Uncle Chuong.
Many preschoolers, early first graders, just look at the pictures and can read fluently, even difficult words. What’s wrong with this? Reading – understanding – emotions – personality development, in many cases, starts from a “vacuum of meaning”.
3. Everyday language with first graders
“Semantic vacuum” and the need for first graders to learn everyday language have a dialectical relationship. The “rough” language of everyday life leads first graders to a certain point, which is a whole process.
Don't use adults' worries and assumptions to stereotype and threaten children, that's not a scientific way of doing things.
4. Discuss real objects and substitutes
In the field of mechanics, moving objects - real objects such as: cars, trains, airplanes, ..., in Mechanics grade 10, when solving problems of motion of those objects, people use a substitute object which is a point. Point helps the investigation problem become simpler but from there helps to study the motion of solid objects later on to be complete and accurate.
In the field of language, although the author is an outsider, but with the argument of Associate Professor Bui Manh Hung, using the concept of real object and substitute object seems to complicate the problem when applied to language teaching, that is an incomplete assessment.
5. Grade 1, need love
In the song"She and Mom", there is a saying:“She and Mom are two teachers, Mom and She are two kind mothers”This love helps first graders to be confident and bold in participating in activities in class and at home - an important foundation of educational technology.
The first gift a child receives is love, other good things must be earned by the child. Trust in adults begins with love for the child and is established through active learning, years of reflection, and growth.
It seems that there is this mistake, a mistake that is not accidental!? I think that the passion of Professor Ho Ngoc Dai shown in TV1 - CNGD is the origin, the love for children.
6. Many generations of adults started in first grade with reading and spelling.
Read a textReading practice, listen to others read and write it downSpelling, has existed for a long time, and is given special attention by the old school. Perhaps that is why, for those who have gone through the old school, even if only through grade 1 or grade 2, it is very difficult for them to become blind again - this is a practical basis.Reading, SpellingGood reading from grade 1 helps students read, understand, and express themselves in higher grades and can speak, making it difficult for children to become blind again.
7. Need to understand correctly the issue of setting an example in education
Standing in the educational reference system, educational technology is both the goal and the measure (an element of the educational reference system) to correctly understand the issue of setting an example. It seems that Associate Professor Bui Manh Hung has a mistake or a mismatch, separating the language of "education does not need to set an example", that is not setting an example in science. Without mutual respect, it will be difficult to have enthusiasm, without mutual respect, it will be difficult to refuse high positions and power to contribute and create the work TV1 - Educational Technology. Normally, when exchanging in an emotional space, affection, with high resonance between the speaker and the listener, expressing closeness, sincerity, and frankness cannot be said to be disrespectful.
