7 men 'shake dice' together after housewarming party in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - After the housewarming ceremony, a group of 7 people from Tan Ky district went to the homeowner's second floor to gamble by shaking the dice.

On the afternoon of November 6, Tan Ky District People's Court opened a criminal trial against Hoang Van Hien, Hoang Van Thao, Tran Van Thoa, Nguyen Chanh Hung, Le Van Phuong, Ho Minh Quang and Tong Tat Hien (all residing in Tan Ky District) for the crime of "Gambling".

According to the indictment, on September 7, 2019, the family of Nguyen Duy Lam (born in 1987), residing in Van Long hamlet, Giai Xuan commune (Tan Ky) held a housewarming party.

After eating, Mr. Lam went to the bedroom, the rest of the people invited each other to gamble by playing dice. The four of them invited each other to go to the second floor of Mr. Lam's house to gamble, each game ranging from 50,000 VND to 200,000 VND.

At about 1:00 p.m. the same day, Phuong, Quang and Hien came to Lam's house and gambled together.

At 3:30 p.m. the same day, while the subjects were gambling, a task force from Tan Ky District Police raided and caught them red-handed, seizing 950,000 VND and many items used for gambling at the gambling table.

Through investigation, it was proven that the total amount of money that the subjects used for gambling purposes was 14,500,000 VND.

At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Tong Tat Hien to 12 months in prison, suspended, and Hoang Van Hien to 9 months in prison. Thao, Quang, Phuong, and Hung were sentenced to a total of 30 months of non-custodial reform, while Thoa was fined 25 million VND.
