7-month trade surplus of 2.26 billion USD

Higher than previously estimated figures, Vietnam's trade surplus from the beginning of the year to the end of July reached nearly 2.26 billion USD.

The results announced by the General Department of Customs based on actual import-export data from the business community show that our country's trade surplus is nearly 500 million USD higher than the previous estimate.

Specifically, by the end of July, the country exported goods worth 96.99 billion USD, up 5.4% over the same period in 2015, while imports reached 94.735 billion USD, down 1.2%.

In both export and import, FDI enterprises still dominate. Of which, the export turnover of FDI enterprises reached 67.599 billion USD, up 8.4% over the same period in 2015, accounting for nearly 70% of the total export turnover value of the country; import reached 55.536 billion USD, down 2.1% over the same period, accounting for 58.62% of the total import turnover value of the country.

The leading export item is still phones of all kinds and components with a turnover value of 19.603 billion USD, up 14.3% over the same period.

Meanwhile, machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, although decreased by 6.3% in value, were still the largest imported items, with a turnover of 15.343 billion USD.
