73 students honored with '5 Good Students' and 'January Star' award

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of January 4, at the University of Economics, the Nghe An Provincial Student Association held a ceremony to celebrate the 67th anniversary of the traditional day of students.giveTitle of "5 Good Students" for the 2015 - 2016 school year andJanuary Star Award 2017.

At the ceremony, the Provincial Student Association reviewed the tradition of Vietnamese Students' Day. On January 9, 1950, the National Salvation Youth Union and the Saigon - Cho Lon Student Union mobilized and organized more than 2,000 students from schools, along with many teachers and people of Saigon - Cho Lon, to protest to ensure security for students, to release arrested students and to reopen schools.

With that historical milestone, following the example and recognizing the indomitable fighting spirit of students in the early days of the resistance war, the first National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Federation in February 1950 at the Viet Bac base decided to take January 9 every year as the Traditional Day of Students.

Over the past 67 years, along with students across the country, Nghe An students have always been worthy of the fine traditions of the heroic Soviet homeland: diligence, studiousness, overcoming difficulties, good study, and achieving high achievements in study and research.

The major movements launched by the Central Youth Union and the Central Association were seriously implemented by the Youth Union and Association at all levels and by a large number of Youth Union members and students in Nghe An, achieving many encouraging results in all aspects: politics - ideology, study, scientific research, culture and arts, sports, social work, building a cultural lifestyle, consolidating and developing a strong Youth Union and Association.

For many consecutive years, Nghe An has been ranked as excellent by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Student Association, leading the country in Association work and student movements.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Student Association of Nghe An province also honored the title of “5 Good Students” and awarded the “January Star” Award to 73 students. These are all excellent faces with good academic achievements and enthusiastically participated in the Youth Union and Association movements.
