8 criminal police exposed to HIV while arresting drug dealers

Previously, on the afternoon of June 6, atNational Highway 39A,A task force discovered that Ly was illegally storing2 plastic bagsInside contained white powder. The statement was that it was heroin that had just been bought from Nguyen Thi Huyen.
Expanding the investigation, at 7 p.m. the same day, the criminal police department coordinated with Khoai Chau district police to search Huyen's residence. During the search, Huyen's brother, Nguyen Van Thanh, who had two previous convictions forIllegal drug trafficking and infectionHIV in the final stage, fought back against the task force.
Thanh used a knife to cut his wrist vein until it bled, then grabbed the knife and rushed at the police who were on duty. Seeing this, the police restrained and arrested Thanh and bandaged his wound.
However, during the process of controlling Thanh, 8 officers and soldiers were exposed to HIV due to scratches, skin lacerations and blood.
In response to the brave actions of the task force, the provincial leaders and the Director of Hung Yen Provincial Police presented a total of 90 million VND to 8 officers and soldiers who were injured and exposed to HIV.
The provincial People's Committee also directed the leaders of the Department of Health and the director of Hung Yen Tropical Hospital to examine, test and treat 8 police officers for HIV/AIDS exposure, and have a health monitoring regimen within 3 months.
