8 Song Lam Nghe An players were called to join the Vietnam U23 team
(Baonghean.vn) - In order to prepare the team to participate in the U23 Southeast Asia tournament held in Thailand, the U23 Vietnam team decided to call up 8 players from Song Lam Nghe An. This training session will last from July 28 to August 27.
On the afternoon of July 25, the Vietnam Football Federation sent a dispatch requesting Song Lam Nghe An club to agree to let 8 players including Cao Van Binh, Nguyen Bao Ngoc, Le Nguyen Hoang, Nguyen Quang Vinh, Le Dinh Long Vu, Nguyen Van Viet, Dinh Xuan Tien and Tran Nam Hai join the Vietnam U23 team.
This is the 4th training session of the year.U23 Vietnam, with the aim of preparing forces to participate in the U23 Southeast Asian tournament held in Thailand.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan was assigned by the Vietnam Football Federation to lead the U23 Vietnam team. In addition to training to prepare for the U23 Southeast Asian Championship in August, the U23 Vietnam team is also aiming for the 19th ASIAD. In these competitions, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan prioritizes the use of young players under the age of 21, to help the players have more opportunities to compete, gain experience, and improve themselves for the upcoming important tournaments.
Among the 8 faces of Song Lam Nghe An summoned, Nguyen Quang Vinh is a player quite unfamiliar to the audience. The reason this midfielder was called to U23 Vietnam is because he had an impressive performance at the 2023 National U19 Tournament. In that tournament, Quang Vinh played the role of conductor of U19 Song Lam Nghe An. This player's excellent performance helped the Nghe team win the runner-up position in the 2023 National U19 Tournament.
In addition, Le Dinh Long Vu and Nguyen Bao Ngoc of Song Lam Nghe An are the two youngest players among the eight players gathered this time. Both were born in 2006 and 2007. In particular, Long Vu is only 17 years old, but has competed in many international tournaments with coach Hoang Anh Tuan, most recently the 2023 U17 Asian Finals.
Also among the 8 players mentioned above, only goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet, midfielder Dinh Xuan Tien, and midfielder Tran Nam Hai are currently players of the first team of Song Lam Nghe An. Unfortunately, in this training session, defender Ho Van Cuong, who played very well at the 32nd Sea Games, could not participate. Ho Van Cuong is currently being treated for a knee ligament injury and is unlikely to recover in time to participate in the international tournaments of U23 Vietnam this year.
The 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship - will take place from August 17 to August 26 in Thailand, bringing together 10 teams and divided into 3 groups. U23 Vietnam is in Group C with the Philippines and Laos.
