Les Calanques, Marseille, France:James Pearson and Caroline Ciavaldini are brand ambassadors for The North Face. They have spent more than a decade climbing cliffs around the world. In their new book, they share that Les Calanques is a popular destination for climbers because of the sheer cliffs of La Grotte de l'Hermite and l'Ours. The cliffs have iron handholds that form distinctive climbing routes and were a popular challenge in the 1990s. |

Salto Angel, Venezuela:Salto Angel is a waterfall in Venezuela that is nearly 1,000 m high and is the highest waterfall in the world. The fastest team of adventurers conquered the waterfall by living and climbing the cliff for 12 days. In 25 years, only 4 groups of climbers have climbed Salto Angel. James and Caroline shared that going to this place is a “tiring journey” but an exciting one. When climbing the cliff, you will lose contact with the world, surrounded by the Amazon forest, a sea of clouds and thousands of sparkling rays from the waterfall when the sun rises. |

Ennedi Desert, Chad: Chad is one of the newest and most remote areas to be explored by climbers in recent years. The area has little vegetation and climbers need to be able to cope with extreme temperatures when they arrive. After a four-day drive from N'Djamena, rock formations known as the Sandstone Walls begin to appear and entice explorers. The strange sight of the rock formations in the middle of the arid desert is a particular attraction for climbers. |

White Rim, Canyonlands National Park, Utah, USA:The White Rim in Canyonlands is famous for Standing Rock, Washer Woman, and Block Top, which attract thousands of climbers from around the world each year. But hidden within the park is a completely different world, attracting a large number of off-width climbers, a form of climbing that follows cracks in the rock and uses specialized climbing techniques to move around. |

Elbe Valley, Decin, Czech Republic:The Elbe Valley boasts a beautiful landscape of historic cliffs. The Dolni Zleb cliffs in this valley overlook the Elbe River and are surrounded by thick pine forests, and have been conquered by many climbers. In addition, the place is equipped with cables, safety equipment and iron spikes on the cliffs to provide maximum support for climbers. |

Meteora, Kalabaka, Greece:Meteora is most famous for its Orthodox monasteries, located on towers in central Greece. When climbing Meteora, visitors have two choices: "modern" routes with iron belts and old routes, called "classics". Of which, the most special climbing route is the Spindle tower, 50 m high. The difficulty of Spindle lies in the thin tower and the first 5 m of the climb there is almost no rock to hold on to. |
