8 times donating blood to save lives
(Baonghean) - Our first impression of student Nguyen Thi Phuong was her quick wit, liveliness, approachability, and friendliness. Through conversation, we learned that Phuong is one of the shining examples of voluntary blood donation activities of the "Vinh City Living Blood Bank" Club in recent times.
As a student at Vinh Medical University, Phuong has always been deeply aware of the importance of voluntary blood donation and has always been a pioneer in the humanitarian blood donation movement launched by the University's Youth Union.
Phuong shared: “At first, I only participated in blood donation out of curiosity. But through my interactions with patients in need of blood, seeing their living conditions, especially at the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital where I saw young children with congenital anemia, I felt that donating blood is a very meaningful act that contributes to saving patients' lives. So I didn't hesitate and am always ready to donate blood whenever I can.”
When the "Vinh City Living Blood Bank" Club was established, Phuong actively participated and has now donated blood voluntarily 8 times: 2 times at school and 6 times when patients were in emergency situations. Not only is she actively involved in blood donation and enthusiastic in youth union activities and movements, Phuong is also an advocate, encouraging friends and relatives to participate as well.
When asked if she faced pressure from her family when participating in blood donation, Phuong confided: “At first, my parents knew but didn't say anything. However, after seeing me donate blood many times, they tried to stop me. Later, I managed to convince them and told them about the unfortunate circumstances of people who desperately needed help, and in the end, they understood and supported me.”
Phuong is currently the Vice President of the "Living Blood Bank of Vinh City" Club. Over the past period, Phuong has always encouraged members, fostering a strong sense of unity to promote the voluntary blood donation movement. Phuong shared: "For me, participating in voluntary blood donation is a very meaningful act. I think it's a joy and a happiness knowing that my blood can help and save the lives of patients who need it."
Through her meaningful and practical actions, and with a compassionate heart, student Nguyen Thi Phuong has become one of the exemplary role models of Nghe An's youth in the blood donation movement to save lives.
