8 years: Student loan balance reaches 1,750 billion VND

(Baonghean.vn) - After nearly 8 years of implementing Decision 157/2007/QD-TTg, by November 2015, the outstanding loan balance of the student credit program in Nghe An reached 1,750 billion VND, with over 210 thousand students from poor and low-income households receiving loans.

According to information from the Provincial Social Policy Bank, not only poor households, but also households with incomes up to 150% of poor households, families with financial difficulties, and orphaned students are all eligible for loans to study. Most of the graduates have found jobs, have incomes, and have fulfilled their debt repayment obligations to the State on time. In recent years, the Nghe An Provincial Social Policy Bank Branch has collected over 500 billion VND in debt each year, many families have paid off their debts ahead of schedule and have enjoyed preferential treatment from the State on interest rate reductions when paying off their debts ahead of schedule.
