Reporting on the traffic safety situation on April 29, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thai - Chief of Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee said that on the first day of the April 30 - May 1 holiday, there were 15 incidents nationwide, killing 8 people and injuring 11. On the highway, there was 1 collision, damaging 3 cars, with no casualties.

Regarding the handling of violations of the Road Traffic Law, the report of the National Traffic Safety Committee said that the national road traffic police force focused on handling 4,914 cases of traffic safety violations; fined 3 billion 771 million VND; temporarily detained 15 cars, 552 motorbikes; revoked 127 driving licenses of all types. On waterways, they inspected and handled 556 cases of traffic safety violations; fined 240 million VND.

Mr. Thai also said that on April 29, the National Traffic Safety Committee's hotline received nearly 40 calls and text messages from people complaining about ticket price increases, overcrowding, carrying more people than allowed, and traffic congestion on some routes.

"After receiving the hotline call, the National Traffic Safety Committee requested relevant units to conduct inspections and handle the information according to the content of the reflected information," Mr. Thai affirmed.
