800 million VND for one night at Princess Diana's house
Guests can stay at the princess's childhood home for £25,000 for two people, with the money going to charity.
Princess Diana's childhood bedroom is opening for the first time as a charity sleepover. Guests can choose to stay in the famous lady's bedroom, where she lived before marrying Prince Charles and becoming the most famous princess in British history.
The house is located in the Althorp estate., more than 100 km from London,It is also the resting place of Princess Diana after her death in 1997 in Paris.
Currently managed by the Duchess's younger brother, Earl Charles Spencer, the 100,000-square-foot Althorp Estate, located northwest of Northamton, first opened to the public in 1998 but has only recently been opened to overnight guests. Althorp has been owned by the Spencer family for 500 years and 18 generations.
The Princess's grave is located on a small island on Oval Lake, where a monument is also placed so that people can come and lay flowers in memory of the beautiful but ill-fated princess.
The resort has 30 bedrooms, many dining rooms, including a dining room designed exactly like the one at Buckingham Palace that can accommodate more than 100 people.
In an exclusive interview with NBC, Earl Charles Spencer said he made the decision to open his home to tourists at the suggestion of his wife, as a way to raise funds for the international children's charity she founded in 2004. The foundation supports orphaned, abandoned, and abused children in developing countries.
The Spencers opened their doors for the weekend to six of their donors, who were selected through a contest. Those who donated $25,000 got to spend the weekend in a beautiful suite, with a lavish dinner on Saturday night.
Those who donate more ($40,000) will be able to stay in the most luxurious suite. Donating up to $250,000 will get a weekend getaway for a couple and 16 of their friends.
Althorp has been owned by Princess Diana's family since 1508, and the estate includes rare collections of antiques, ceramics and works by Da Vinci.
Every year, around July-August and on some special occasions during the year, tourists can join some tours of this land, including relics, gardens, lakes, cafes, exhibitions about family history. In early May, the princess's tomb was renovated to be more spacious. This was to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her death.her in 2017.
