9 people buried in avalanche in Tibet
At least nine nomads were buried in an avalanche that occurred at around 11 a.m. on July 17 (local time) in Rutog County, Tibet Autonomous Region, China.

Immediately after the incident, local authorities mobilized more than 40 rescue workers along with 20 machines and medical equipment to the scene to carry out rescue work.
It is known that the place where the avalanche occurred is a summer cattle grazing area, the layer of snow where the victims were buried was about 6 to 8 meters thick.
Rutog is a border district in the northwestern region of Tibet, bordering the Indian state of Kashmir. Its average altitude is 4,500m above sea level, with the highest point reaching 6,800m. The people here mainly live on herding livestock.
