90-day 'countdown' for 12th-grade students preparing for exams.
(Baonghean.vn) - “90 Days of Determination to Achieve High Results in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam” is a competitive movement being implemented by schools throughout the province, with the goal of working together with the provincial education sector to increase their ranking by at least 4 positions in this year's exam.
Racing against time
After the first mock exam, with an average score of 5.9 in Literature, teacher Le Thi Thach and the students of class 12C9, Nguyen Sy Sach High School (Thanh Chuong), could not yet be satisfied with the results achieved.
Therefore, starting this April, in parallel with teaching and learning according to the main curriculum at school, every afternoon, classes have begun to shift to reviewing exam questions.

“Class 12C9 is a special class, so the students' abilities are limited, and their awareness of exam preparation is not high. After the first mock exam, I reviewed all the exam scores and papers to accurately assess each student's abilities. Based on that, during the teaching, review, and practice sessions, I will focus on the areas where they are weak.”
Furthermore, the practice test process will also develop students' test-taking skills. From now until the official exam, we are aiming for an average score of 7.3 in Literature. To achieve this, both teachers and students must strive every day. As for myself, I will be extremely enthusiastic and dedicate all my efforts to supporting my students, treating them like my own children and closely accompanying them during this crucial final stretch,” Ms. Thach shared.

"No walking slowly, no private conversations, no doing personal work during class, voluntarily sitting at your desk to study, independently exploring and accumulating knowledge at home" are the requirements that the Board of Directors of Nguyen Sy Sach High School (Thanh Chuong) set for the school's 438 12th-grade students during the launching ceremony."90 days of determination to achieve high results in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam".
“We organized mock exams and compared the results with those from previous years' mock and actual exams, and found that a portion of the students still lacked a sense of responsibility towards their studies. Therefore, in this competition, along with the demands from the students, the entire teaching staff of the school is also working together, determined to compete to achieve and surpass the committed targets for the graduation exam, through concrete actions and deeds.”
This includes investing in lesson plans tailored to each student's needs, organizing numerous mock exams, enthusiastically providing free tutoring, patiently and persistently assisting students with weak academic performance, showing love and tolerance in education, maintaining discipline and order in teaching, and regularly monitoring, checking, and evaluating students. The school, along with homeroom teachers and the head of the parent association, has also signed a commitment to uphold organizational discipline and strive for high scores in mock exams…”
With less than three months to go, the high school graduation exam will officially begin. In this crucial period, teachers and students at Ethnic Boarding High School No. 2 are determined to maintain their position as one of the top-performing schools in the province in terms of average exam scores.
This is also a school where nearly 100% of students aspire to go to university, so they place great emphasis on exam preparation.

Nguyen Xuan Hai, a student in class 12C1 at Ethnic Boarding High School No. 2, said: “According to the latest announcement, this year, security-related schools will combine the National High School Examination scores with the results of the Ministry of Public Security's competency assessment exam. Therefore, I currently have to study well in the C3 subject combination (Mathematics, Literature, History) and also study all subjects equally well to be able to answer the 50 multiple-choice and essay questions in the Ministry of Public Security's competency assessment exam. I tried one practice test and found the knowledge required quite broad and the questions quite challenging.”
Therefore, from now until the official exam, I've decided I need to practice a lot of sample tests and thoroughly understand the knowledge in the textbooks. Closer to the exam, we will pool our money to buy a set of aptitude test questions together to further improve our test-taking skills."
Supporting students
The 2023-2024 school year marks the first time the Nghe An Education Department has launched the emulation campaign "90 Days of Determination to Achieve High Results in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam". After nearly a month of implementation, this campaign has had a positive impact on teaching and learning in schools.
At Nguyen Duy Trinh High School (Nghi Loc), right from the beginning of the 12th grade, the school has categorized students' abilities to guide them in choosing their desired majors, careers, and universities. This categorization also helps teachers easily prepare students for the upcoming high school graduation exam, helping them achieve the highest possible scores.

We don't focus on rote learning, but rather teach all the necessary knowledge to help students perform well in both the High School Graduation Exam and other aptitude tests. I also prioritize teaching in a way that helps students understand the core concepts of each problem. Once they have a solid grasp of the fundamentals, students can gradually approach more difficult problems, including application and advanced-level exercises.
Ha Huy Tap High School (Vinh City) is also one of the first schools in Nghe An province to organize a launching ceremony and sign a commitment to implement the program "90 days of determination to achieve high results in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam".
This academic year, the school aims to achieve a graduation ranking between 10th and 12th in the province, with all subjects showing improved rankings compared to 2023. Additionally, the school aims for 100% of its students to pass their graduation exams.
According to Principal Cao Thanh Bao, “At this time, teachers will mainly focus on consolidating foundational knowledge for students and helping them review any knowledge gaps so they can promptly supplement and practice. We have also instructed subject departments to closely follow the content and structure of the high school graduation exam set by the Ministry of Education and Training. From there, we will develop review plans that ensure standard knowledge, reviewing from basic to advanced levels, from simple to complex, and familiarizing students with sample exam formats.”

To ensure the "90-Day Campaign to Achieve High Results in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam" is implemented effectively and widely, schools must have specific, detailed, and systematic plans for each different aspect. Teaching must be tailored to the specific needs of each student and create a positive learning atmosphere within each school. Teachers also need to make efforts, enhance professional development, and be dedicated and committed to their students.
In particular, during the implementation process, schools need to actively and genuinely participate, avoiding formality and the pursuit of superficial achievements, focusing on the students and using results to evaluate the quality of the school.”
