Talented 9X from Nghe An and his dream of becoming a computer science expert

(Baonghean.vn) – Tran Bao Trung, a former student of Phan Boi Chau High School, a talented student majoring in mathematics and information technology at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, is nurturing his passion for becoming a computer scientist.

Bao Trung achieved the title of excellent student of the entire K59 course of Hanoi University of Technology.

Impressive academic achievement

Originally from Dung Town (Thanh Chuong), a former student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An, Tran Bao Trung is currently a 2nd year student of the Math - IT Talented Engineer class (Hanoi University of Science and Technology).

He won the first prize in the Nghe An province math competition and the second prize in the national math competition in both 11th and 12th grade. Trung was also honored to be selected for the Vietnam Olympic team to compete in the international math competition. But in this competition, luck has not really come to Trung.

In 2014, Trung was admitted directly to the Math - IT class (Hanoi University of Science and Technology). With his passion and efforts, on April 17, 2015, the first-year student became the valedictorian of the National Student Math Olympiad with a perfect score of 30/30. At the same time, he also achieved the title of excellent student of the entire K59 course of the school. On April 16, Trung continued to win the first prize in the Analysis subject of the National Student Math Olympiad held in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh.

Bao Trung shared: “Successes and failures are the motivation for me to try to pursue this subject. For me, mathematics is an art and those who decode it are true artists who discover the beauty of numbers and symbols.”

Endless passion for mathematics

Bao Trung's passion for math has been there since he was a child, and the person who inspired him is none other than his older brother Tran Bao Ngoc (21 years old), currently a third-year student in the talented IT engineering class (Hanoi University of Science and Technology). Bao Ngoc also won second prize in the 2014 National Student Math Olympiad in Analysis.

Thanks to his brother's tutoring and guidance, Bao Trung went from being good at math to being passionate, curious, and wanting to discover the beauty in mathematics.

Trung shared: “Actually, math is not as dry and difficult to understand as people think. To learn math well, you must be truly passionate and persistent. And good math problems are synonymous with being very difficult to solve, the problems will attract you, making you concentrate completely. And when you solve the answer, you will burst into happiness.

Besides, I have to exchange and learn regularly. I often go online to participate in math forums, organize seminars with friends to exchange knowledge I have learned with each other and regularly attend math seminars organized by teachers at the Institute of Mathematics.

In addition to his passion for math, this 9X guy from Nghe An is quite interesting when sharing that he really likes literature and won first prize in literature at the district level in middle school. Singing karaoke and cooking are also his forte in his free time.

Bao Trung is also a big fan of Professor Ngo Bao Chau. Talking about his upcoming goals, Bao Trung said: “I want to improve my English skills to hunt for scholarships to study abroad in Europe. My dream is to become a computer science expert, applying my knowledge to technology. Therefore, I will try harder to improve myself and to make my dream come true.”
