9x from Nghe An is 'makeup' for many Vietnamese stars

(Baonghean.vn)- Thanks to her passion and diligence, this 9x girl from Nghe An has become a "talented artist", doing makeup for many famous beauty queens, singers and actors in Vietnam.

Now, Nguyen Thi Thu Hien (born in 1994), from Vinh city (Nghe An) has become a right-hand man for her teacher - a famous makeup artist for Vietnamese celebrities. Hien has been able to do makeup for famous beauty queens, actors, singers... But few people know that to get to where she is today, this 9x girl from Nghe An had to go through difficult years.

In grade 12, Hien started to get “addicted” to makeup. After finishing the university entrance exam, Hien was sure that she would not pass, so she decided to ask her mother to let her aunt study makeup. After receiving the admission notice to Vinh University, Hien studied both university and makeup. She “fell in love” with makeup artist Phan Minh Loc, and later he also became Hien’s teacher.

Her family could not afford to let her pursue her passion, so Hien decided to drop out of college and get married. She confided: “This was a turning point in my life. My husband’s family was very poor, but in return, everyone loved me like their own child. Knowing that I was passionate about makeup, after a family meeting, my parents-in-law and my husband decided to mortgage their land to borrow money from the bank to let me go to Ho Chi Minh City to pursue my dream.”

Life as a young girl in a foreign land is not easy. During the day, she goes to school, and after school, she works part-time all night, until 2-3 am. There were times when she had to follow the music video crew, doing makeup for singers from 6 am the previous day until 12 am the next day. The work was stressful and pressured, but thinking about her family and the debt, Hien was resilient and strong enough to overcome it.

Hien studied with makeup artist Phan Minh Loc, who is currently considered by the artist community as the “makeup wizard” of Vietnam. Thanks to that, she learned many techniques as well as modern makeup trends. Hien worked with professional teams, doing makeup for famous beauty queens, singers, and actors such as Miss Duong Truong Thien Ly, Miss Dang Thu Thao, comedian Viet Huong, singer Hoang Thuy Linh... Most recently, Hien did makeup for contestants in the Southern Finals of the Miss Vietnam 2016 contest.

Thu Hien is proud to have her husband always by her side, even in difficult times.

Having worked with many famous Vietnamese stars, Hien confided that comedian Viet Huong is the closest person. Talking about her passion, Hien smiled: “For me now, makeup is not just a job to make money, but also a passion, a complete love of mine. Especially when the customer is satisfied, after finishing the makeup, looking back at the results of my work to make others beautiful is truly indescribable happiness. Having today, I truly thank my teacher for giving me opportunities that not everyone has!”
