AFC Cup 2013: SHB Da Nang narrowly defeats Ayeyawady United

Taking full advantage of their home ground, SHB Da Nang defeated Myanmar National Cup winners Ayeyawady United in the early match of the opening round of Group G of the AFC Cup 2013.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities, SHB Da Nang finally found the opening goal in the 42nd minute, scored by center-back Goia Cosmin with a header.

In the second half, coach Le Huynh Duc's team continued to accelerate, and in the 56th minute, Gaston Merlo accurately finished off a perfect attacking combination by the home team, which had previously involved Anh Khoa and Danny David.

After taking a two-goal lead at home, SHB Da Nang slowed down their pace of play, and the team from Myanmar gradually created a more balanced game.

However, it wasn't until the 89th minute that the visiting team scored a consolation goal, courtesy of substitute Nay Lin Tun.

With a 2-1 victory over Ayeyawady United, SHB Da Nang had a favorable start in the 2013 AFC Cup.

This coming Sunday, March 3rd, SHB Da Nang will play their first V-League 2013 match against Kienlongbank Kien Giang at home.

Also in the 2013 AFC Cup, Vietnam's second representative, Saigon Xuan Thanh FC, will begin with an away match against Tampines Rovers (Singapore) on March 6th.
