Talking about Kieu Trinh, AFC wrote: "Over the past decade, goalkeeper Dang Thi Kieu Trinh has become an icon at the Women's Asian Cup. Since her debut in the tournament in Japan in 2006, Kieu Trinh - now 32 years old - has not been absent from any Asian Cup finals so far and has witnessed the progress of the home team.
Most notably, the tournament in 2014, when Vietnam came close to a ticket to the World Cup. Unfortunately, a 1-2 defeat to Thailand took away their dream. This year, the Vietnamese Golden Ball is aiming for a better result."
Responding to AFC about the sad memory against Thailand in 2014, goalkeeper Kieu Trinh shared: "That match is a sad memory because we did not play well and missed the opportunity to attend the World Cup. We consider it as motivation to play well in Jordan."
In this year's tournament, the Vietnamese team will be in the same group with very strong opponents, so the chance of advancing for coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will become even more difficult. However, according to AFC, goalkeeper Kieu Trinh will be the inspiration for the Vietnamese players to surprise the top opponents in the continent.
