AFF Cup 2018: Each V.League team is allowed to buy 20 tickets, black market ticket prices are sky-high
(Baonghean.vn) - The limited number of tickets combined with the excitement of the match between Vietnam and Malaysia caused the price of "black market" tickets to skyrocket and become even more out of control on the morning of December 14.
On December 10, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Organizing Committee started selling tickets online for the second leg of the AFF Cup 2018 final between Vietnam and Malaysia. Specifically, the ticket prices listed by VFF are 200,000, 350,000, 500,000 and 600,000 VND/ticket.
However, VFF only sold more than 10,000 tickets online and because the number of visitors to the agency's ticket sales website was at one point nearly 200,000, network congestion occurred and transactions were impossible.

While fans were still waiting to buy tickets online for the final sale at 10am on December 11, ticket brokers appeared on social networks, eagerly offering tickets and pushing ticket prices up very high.
On that day, tickets for stands C and D were sold for 4 million VND/pair; stands A and B were over 9 million VND/pair. If fans wanted to sit in VIP seats with fruit and drinks, the ticket price was 15 million VND/pair. A day before the second leg final, the black market price outside the VFF gate continued to increase, ranging from 10 million VND/pair to 12 million VND/pair for regular-priced tickets.

This morning, Mr. Nguyen Viet Ha - a businessman from Nghe An working in Hanoi said: "It was very difficult for me to buy 2 pairs of tickets for the final match at My Dinh. The amount of money I had to spend was 18 million VND for 4 tickets."
Not only will they have to spend a large amount of money to buy tickets, Mr. Ha and tens of thousands of Vietnamese fans will have to spend more money to park their vehicles and buy food and drinks at My Dinh Stadium at exorbitant prices, dozens of times higher than usual.
According to Nghe An Newspaper, although football teams in V.League bought tickets through official dispatch, they were only able to meet 10% of the requested tickets. Specifically, each club was only able to meet about 20 tickets, and members of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation were also allowed to buy a limited number of tickets. According to our research, VFF also had to prepare 3,000 tickets for fans of the visiting team Malaysia tomorrow.
Previously, in the second leg of the AFF Cup 2018 semi-final between Vietnam and the Philippines, VFF sold 15,000 tickets online, but still could not meet the demand of fans. Therefore, many people had to buy tickets on the black market at prices ranging from 6 million to 8 million VND/pair for stands A and B./.
