Goals: De Bruyne 55', Aguero 90'+2 - Bobby Reid penalty 44'
The dark horse Bristol City had an excellent first half against the Premier League leaders with Bobby Reid opening the scoring from the 11-meter mark. This goal was largely due to the Man City central defenders when Mangala made a mistake and John Stones missed the ball when tackling Reid in the 16m50 situation.
However, just like in their last match against Burnley, Man City completed a comeback after falling behind in the first half, Kevin de Bruyne's powerful equaliser coming from a one-two with Raheem Sterling.
Just when everyone thought Bristol City would draw and take the lead heading into the second leg, Aguero headed the winner for Man City in the second minute of stoppage time. The Argentine striker broke free and finished right in front of the goalkeeper from Bernardo Silva's cross.
Despite losing the match, what they did against Man City will be an encouragement for Bristol City in the second leg at home at Ashton Gate, where they eliminated Man Utd in the quarter-finals, on January 23.

Lee Johnson's side are having a memorable season, competing for a place in the Premier League in the Championship and eliminating a host of big teams to reach the semi-finals of the League Cup, including Man Utd.
In the match at Man City, Bristol did the opposite of most teams in England at the moment and attacked Pep Guardiola's team. Bristol's adventurous play helped them almost create another shock. Joe Bryan and Oleksandr Zinchenko forced Claudio Bravo to save the home team before accepting defeat by Reid's penalty.
Man City did not show much of the team that is making waves in England against Bristol City. But the final result was still a victory for the blue half of Manchester thanks to the shining moments of the stars.
Kevin de Bruyne started the quick attack and finished it off with an equaliser. Aguero came off the bench to seal the first-leg win, giving Man City the advantage going into the final.
Man City are still unbeaten after 33 consecutive matches in all competitions in England since April 2017.
