Egypt: Bomb explodes at Italian Consulate in Cairo, 1 dead
Early on the morning of July 11, a large explosion occurred outside the Italian Consulate in the Egyptian capital Cairo, causing part of the front of the building to collapse.

Egyptian Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said one person had died.
The explosion occurred at 6:30 a.m. (04:30 GMT) and also injured two police officers and three passers-by.
According to Egypt's official MENA news agency, initial indications are that the explosion was caused by a bomb planted in a car parked near the consulate.
Egypt's MENA news agency quoted a security officer as saying a car bomb caused the explosion. No individual or organization has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion.
