Unique scenes in the new movie

The movie "Pha troi: Sinh ban me" has just had its official premiere in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting attention with its unique tragicomedy details. Among them, the scene where artist Ai Nhu plays Mrs. Tam lying in the coffin and the appearance of singer Ngoc Son singing and dancing in the funeral scene are the most discussed highlights.

For artist Ai Nhu, this is her first leading role in a movie after more than 40 years of dedication to the theater. She shared that she did not feel scared when filming the scene lying in a coffin, but on the contrary, she found it interesting. "Lying in a coffin, in a narrow, hot and stuffy space, I felt like I was experiencing it and thought that this is the feeling when I close my eyes and go far away," artist Ai Nhu confided.

Initially, she was hesitant to accept the role because she thought she was not a "box office star", but the director and producer still believed in her choice. The artist said she tried her best and waited for the audience's honest feedback when the film was released.

Special appearance of singer Ngoc Son

The film also features a special appearance by singer Ngoc Son as Jackson, a character who sings and dances at the funeral. This segment is expected to cause controversy.

Explaining this choice, director Thanh Binh said that this was his way of showing respect to his parents' idol. On the producer's side, a representative of the crew shared: "Mr. Son's appearance in the segment is to show the mother's farewell in a happy atmosphere, expressing the feelings of everyone around. We have no problem delving too deeply into Mr. Son's role in the film."

Dark comedy from a "stormy" birthday

"Pha dang: Sinh ban me" is made in the black comedy genre. Director Nguyen Thanh Binh (Binh Bong Bot) said the work was inspired by the excerpt "Happiness of a funeral" in the novel "So do" by writer Vu Trong Phung, along with other references from popular culture.

The film revolves around an urban family where expectations of success and social norms have unintentionally weighed down each generation. The mother's birthday party, which was supposed to be a cozy reunion, becomes a "battlefield" for long-simmering conflicts to explode, creating a series of tragicomic events.

Besides artist Ai Nhu, the film brings together a cast of many generations such as Thanh Hoi, Hong Anh, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau, Tran Kim Hai, Hoang Phi, Tin Nguyen, Huy Khanh... The film officially hits theaters from October 31.
