Alex Ferguson was admitted to hospital on Saturday morning, May 5, after suffering a stroke at his home. He underwent surgery the following day at Salford Royal Hospital to remove a blood clot in his brain. 48 hours after being admitted to hospital, the 76-year-old coach regained consciousness and was talking to his family.

The British press once said that the coach nicknamed "hairdryer" needed several months of special care. However, his wife - Mrs. Cathy - and family said that this was not necessary.

According toBBC, the 13-time Premier League champion strategist will be cared for like a normal inpatient in the coming time.

"This is great news," Arsene Wenger said of his former rival's improvement. "He has worked very hard and deserves to enjoy more of this life. Hopefully Ferguson will be back to normal soon."

Pep Guardiola called Alex Ferguson's family's withdrawal from intensive care "a surprise." The new Premier League champion also sent his best wishes to his senior coach.
