Alex Ferguson lost a bet of more than $11,000
Former Man Utd manager told Danny Willett that his victory at the 2016 Masters cost him a large sum of money he had bet on Jordan Spieth.
Ferguson was at Augusta and watched all four days of the 2016 Masters. He, like many other fans, was surprised to see Danny Willett win.
Meeting Willett after he won the Green Jersey, Ferguson revealed that he lost his bet but was happy about it.
“I put £8,000 (nearly $11,300) on Spieth,” Ferguson told Willett.
"Oh, I'm sorry," the 28-year-old golfer replied.
"But I was happy, honestly, I was happy. I was happy to throw that money away," Ferguson said.
“Exactly. You need to know where to put your money,” Willett replied slyly.

The two men then shook hands and Ferguson congratulated Willett on his achievement.
Willett won the 2016 Masters with a score of 5 under on the final day. Before that, Jordan Spieth had always led from the first round. However, a poor result in the last nine holes of the fourth round caused the American golfer to miss the chance to defend the title at Augusta.
The 2016 Masters was the first major title of Willett's career, a Liverpool fan. The Sheffield-born golfer almost missed the tournament at Augusta if his wife had not given birth to their first son earlier than expected.
Willett's victory was the first time a British golfer had won golf's most prestigious tournament in 20 years.
