Warm 'Full Moon Festival' of Nghe people in Taiwan

(Baonghean.vn) - In order to preserve national traditions and further strengthen the spirit of solidarity among Nghe An people living far from home, on the night of October 4 (August 15 of the lunar calendar), the Nghe An Association in Taiwan organized a Mid-Autumn Festival.

A few days ago, Nghe An workers in Taiwan took advantage of their day off to make star lanterns. Dozens of star lanterns, big and small, of all colors, were made to serve the festival. Some of the lanterns were over 2 or 3 meters high.

The festival took place at Ti Quang Chang shopping complex and Taichung Park with the participation of more than 100 people who are children of Nghe An people studying, working and living in Taiwan from Taipei, Taichung and Tainan areas.

The program's organizers said: Mid-Autumn Festival in Taiwan is a national holiday, so everyone, especially workers, have the conditions to participate in the program. Many compatriots living 100 km away are still eager to take the bus or train to Taichung to attend the festival.

From the early afternoon of October 4, Nghe An compatriots, including adults and children, in colorful SLNA and Choa 37 uniforms, gathered at Ti Quang Chang to offer incense to Uncle Ho's altar. After that, the group carried star lanterns through the streets, singing traditional songs as they walked, leading to Taichung Park.

At this park, the group organized cultural exchanges, quizzes with prizes, and Mid-Autumn Festival feasts. Participants had the opportunity to show off their singing and dancing talents, as well as exchange thoughts and feelings with their fellow countrymen. The 2017 Mid-Autumn Festival of Nghe An compatriots in Taiwan was a great success, and everyone said goodbye with nostalgia and joy.

In addition to the main gathering point in Taichung, in other areas of Taiwan, Nghe An compatriots also organize many other Mid-Autumn Festival fun spots such as at eateries, restaurants, dormitories, etc.

Nguyen Sy Nghia, an enthusiastic member of the Nghe An Association, shared: “This is the second time I have participated in the Mid-Autumn Festival of Nghe An people in Taiwan. I feel the warm and friendly atmosphere of my Nghe An compatriots far away from home. The festival has left me with many beautiful impressions.”
