Ban Phong village, Tam Hop commune, Tuong Duong district, comprises 146 households/610 people of the Tay Poong ethnic minority, of which 98 households are classified as poor. The village is located nearly 7km from the center of Tam Hop commune, through a forest road with difficult access. In recent years, despite receiving investment from the government in all aspects, the lives of the people still face many difficulties, especially in healthcare. Therefore, organizing free medical examinations and dispensing free medicine to the people is a practical way to help poor families and ethnic minorities have access to healthcare and improve their lives.

Especially through practical activities, the Border Guard medical corps also took the opportunity to learn about effective traditional medicine treatments used by the local people to apply to daily medical examinations and treatment for soldiers and civilians in other areas.

Despite the harsh conditions of unfavorable weather, including the intensified northeast monsoon, freezing temperatures, and difficult roads, the medical team of the Nghe An Border Guard successfully carried out a free medical examination and medication distribution for ethnic minority people in Phong village, Tam Hop border commune, Tuong Duong district, with a spirit of sharing and compassion for the people in the border region.
