Warmth of support from the home front

(Baonghean) - Upon learning about the difficult circumstances of the family of Lieutenant Pham Kha Dang, Deputy Captain of the Coast Guard vessel 4033, who is currently performing law enforcement duties in the East Sea, the Association of Former Students of Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, through its Facebook page, organized a fundraising campaign and sent representatives to present gifts and offer encouragement to the Deputy Captain's family on the afternoon of May 17th.

Lieutenant Pham Kha Dang is the Deputy Captain of Coast Guard vessel 4033, belonging to Squadron 201, Coast Guard Region 2 (Tam Quang, Nui Thanh, Quang Nam). Last month, he was granted leave to care for his parents, both of whom are seriously ill. His father, Mr. Pham Kha Thao, a retired soldier, suffered a stroke more than a year ago, leaving him with severe aftereffects and confined to a wheelchair. His mother, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tinh, has terminal stage epithelial cancer.

Given the complex situation in the South China Sea, with China brazenly placing the HD-981 oil rig on Vietnam's continental shelf and exclusive economic zone, and his comrades working tirelessly day and night, even though his leave was not yet over and his parents' illnesses were still serious, he requested permission from his unit to return to sea with his comrades to carry out his duties. These days, he is eagerly awaiting the ship's return so he can continue sailing.

Dang's family has four siblings, all attending university. Three of his sons are in the military. Dang is a coast guard officer, his second brother is in the navy, his third brother is studying at the Logistics Academy, and his youngest sister is a student at Ha Tinh University. Dang recently got married to Nguyen Thi Man, a kindergarten teacher working in Da Nang. However, due to difficult family circumstances—her husband is away and her in-laws are both seriously ill—she had to take temporary leave from work to care for her husband's parents, allowing her husband and siblings to focus on their work and studies.

A delegation of former students from Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted arrived at the home of Lieutenant Pham Kha Dang's family late in the afternoon. It was a small, simple house nestled deep in Bac Dinh hamlet, amidst the vast white sands of the coastal area of ​​Thach Tri commune, Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province. When the delegation arrived, Mrs. Man, Lieutenant Dang's wife, was tending to her mother-in-law's wounds, cleaning and caring for her with the skill and attentiveness of a nurse. Despite being very tired, knowing that people had come to visit and encourage the family, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tinh still managed to get up to speak with them and thank them. She was deeply moved, saying that despite their difficult family circumstances, she and her husband always encouraged Dang to focus on completing his duties.

The delegation presented the family of Lieutenant Pham Kha Dang with a gift of 20 million VND to share in their difficulties, and as a token of support from those on the home front to encourage the coast guard officers serving in the front lines of the nation.

Following this trip, the former students of Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School continued their visit to another location, the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital – where Mrs. Huynh Thi Nhu Doa, mother of Captain Le Trung Thanh of ship 4033, is receiving treatment.
