Pakistani and Indian soldiers exchanged fire along the border in the disputed Kashmir region on the night of January 5.

On January 6, VG Khandare, Commander-in-Chief of India's 19th Infantry Brigade, visited the disputed Kashmir region, where fighting between the two countries' armies had been ongoing for the past two days, stating that this constituted a breach of the ceasefire agreements between the two sides.

Khandare said: “During the fighting on the night of January 5th, one Pakistani soldier was killed and several others were wounded. On the Indian side, no one was killed in this exchange. The fighting is evidence that the Pakistani army is continuing to violate the ceasefire agreement between the two countries.”

Earlier, on the nights of January 5th and 6th, Pakistani and Indian soldiers exchanged fire along the border in the disputed Kashmir region, resulting in one soldier killed and several others wounded.

Both India and Pakistan blamed each other for the exchange of fire. According to a Pakistani military source, Indian soldiers crossed the Line of Control (LoC), the internationally recognized de facto border in the disputed Kashmir region between the two countries, and attacked a Pakistani military outpost. Pakistan returned fire, forcing the Indian side to retreat. However, India denied this accusation.
