India plans to spend up to 4.5 billion USD to purchase military equipment
According to IANS news agency, India's Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) on July 14 approved proposals to purchase and upgrade defense equipment worth more than 290 billion rupees (equivalent to 4.5 billion USD).

Among the proposals recently approved by the DAC are the proposal to purchase four more Boeing P9I maritime patrol aircraft; and the proposal to replace the L70 and ZU 23 anti-aircraft guns equipped since the 1960s.
Sources said the country needs 428 new guns under the “buy and make in India” program to replace the old guns.
Other proposals, including upgrading weapons systems and sensors of six Delhi and Talwar class warships, as well as setting up a Brahmos missile training facility in Gujarat state, were also approved./.
